The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) enforcement (Team A), South West zone, comprising of tax controllers from Oyo, Ilorin, and Osogbo micro and small tax offices and the legal officers visited tax defaulters and sealed off their offices.

The offences committed included failure to register, failure to remit vat collected, among others.

The exercise, which commenced from Ogbomoso, saw to the closure of Ologbon Microfinance Bank and Alata Milk and Honey restaurant and their managers arrested.

In Ilorin, at the popular Ibrahim Taiwo Road electronics market, virtually all the electronics shops were affected. The defaulters included Circles Stores, Choice Electronics, Pillar Electronics, Timotech Nig. Ltd, Leavy Tech Nig, Ncheson Ltd and Chicken Chillies Resturant, on the Government House Road. However, it took intervention of the men of the mobile unit the police to avert troubles as the market boys wanted to attack tax officers when they heard that their masters were being taken away by the police.

In Osogbo, Gazar Hotels Ltd had its premises sealed off and its customers dislodged, including those having their Chrismas party.

At the Obafemi Awolowo University Conference Centre and Guest House Ltd, the staff members prevented the arrest of their General Manger over non-remittance of outstanding vat charges running into several millions of naira. It took the intervention of the police in Ile-Ife to save what could have been a bloody situation by asking the University's Chief Security Officer to call his people to order.

At the end of the exercises all the arrested owners/managers gave undertakings to offset liabilities after which their premises would be re-opened.
