Attack On Journalists: Kwara NUJ Seeks Security Cover For Members
A press statement signed by chairman and secretary of the chapel, Comrade Layi Olanrewaju and Alhaji Biola Azeez, respectively, described a situation where journalists were beaten in the presence of policemen without intervention of security operatives as unfortunate.
It would be recalled that Channels TV cameraman and reporter in the state were beaten by some thugs at the venue of PDP primaries in Ilorin on Saturday during the course of their reportorial duty.
It was also gathered that the thugs numbering 50 smashed the camera and tore clothes of the TV crew members in an attempt to force open the camera to remove the tape.
The statement also said that members of the chapel will have no other option than to boycott event of any political party, organisation, or group, where their security and protection are not guaranteed
