Oba AbdulRaheem targets education, agriculture
A governorship aspirant under the platform of the People's Democratic Party, PDP in Kwara state, Professor Shuaib Abdul Raheem says he will give priority to qualitaty education and agricultural development if voted into power.
Promising to run a transparent and participatory government, Abdul Raheem who was a former Chairman of the Federal Character Commission, FCC said improvement in education and agriculture were necessary to transform the state.
Untapped natural resources
Professor Abdulraheem said he would improve internally generated revenue and discourage dependence on federal allocations by concentrating on the untapped natural resources in the state.
He said this while speaking with VON Correspondent in Ilorin, the Kwara state capital.
"Let me assure the people of Kwara state that I will provide security, alleviate poverty, improve on agriculture and enhance qualitative education. These would be the major thrust of my administration if eventually voted into power", Profesor AbdulRaheem stated.
Attract foreign investments
He bemoaned the poor state of power supply and pledged his determination to boost power supply to attract foreign investments and improve the economy of the state.
Profesor AbdulRaheem said he did not consult any other aspirants before obtaining his nomination form and would not allow anything deter his ambition. The University don who was among governorship aspirants in Kwara in 2011, urged his supporters to disregard insinuations that he will step down for anybody. Professor Abdulraheem said the PDP will allow all governorship aspirants in the state to participate in primaries and pledged to utilise his wealth of experience to improve Kwara if given the mandate.
The former Vice Chancellor of the University of llorin appealed to his supporters to shun violence before, during and after the forthcoming general elections.
