'Presidency hasn't issued directive on Kwara gov race' - Makanjuola
Special Adviser to President Goodluck Jonathan on National Assembly Matters, Senator Suleiman Makanjuola, has said there is no iota of truth in the rumuour that the Presidency has directed all its appointees, who had resigned recently to contest Kwara State governorship race to return to their respective offices.
A statement by one of his media assistants, Alhaji Abdulmajeed Olokooba, made available to the Nigerian Tribune, in Ilorin ,on Wednesday, said the president's aide is still in the Kwara State governorship race in the 2015 general election under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The statement, which also said that the PDP governorship aspirant had resigned his appointment last week Monday, debunked insinuation that the Presidency rejected Senator Ajadi's resignation, adding that the governorship aspirant resigned his appointment in line with the PDP constitution and that the resignation was accepted by the president.
It also called on the PDP national leadership to be wary of the underground design by some people, who had concluded arrangements to concoct another delegate list different from the authentic one that emanated from the congress.
"There is no iota of truth in the rumuour that the Presidency directed all its appointees who had resigned recently to return to their respective offices. The orchestrated insinuation was the handiwork of the people, who do not want to submit themselves to ballot boxes but believe in imposition of gubernatorial candidate by their god mother.
Meanwhile, Senator Ajadi, has obtained the PDP intent form to contest the 2015 governorship election in Kwara State with a promise to give priority attention to infrastructure development of the state if elected governor.
The former senator, who represented Kwara South Senatorial District in the National Assembly between 1999 and 2005, pledged to revolutionise the agriculture sector, and to empower rural farmers with a view to ensuring food security in the state.
The erstwhile Commissioner for Finance and Economic Development in the state, also assured that he would create job opportunities for unemployed youths in the state.
"Today, there is massive unemployment among youths, especially university graduates ,who are either engaged as political thugs or are giving meager stipend that is not even enough to keep body and soul together.
The present administration in the state paid paltry sum of N5,000 as monthly salary in its employment programme. What can this meager salary buy?"
