Kwara warns residents against indiscriminate dumping of refuse
The Kwara State Environmental Agency (KWEPA) on Monday warned residents of the state against indiscriminate dumping of refuse.
The General Manager of the agency, Mr. Oba Adefila, gave the warning in an interview with newsmen in Ilorin.
Adefila said dumping refuse indiscriminately makes the environment unhealthy for living.
"Anyone caught disposing of refuse in a place other than the Roro bins provided by the state government will be arrested by law enforcement agents," he said.
He said efforts have been made by the government to keep the state clean for healthy living and would not hesitate to punish violators.
Adefila advised those dumping domestic wastes to support government's efforts in managing refuse by segregating perishable wastes from non-perishable ones in order to check outbreak of diseases.
"Kwara is always known to be a clean state and we will do everything possible to make it look more attractive than ever," Adefila said. (NAN)
