Party Will Determine Ahmed's Fate, Not Me - Saraki

Date: 2014-10-06

Former Governor of Kwara State and Senator representing Kwara Central, Dr Bukola Saraki has disclaimed news stating that his endorsement of Governor Ahmed for second term will translate to automatic ticket for the candidate.

He made this known while responding to questions from newsmen during a media chat in his residence. Saraki who explained the rationale behind his endorsement of Governor Ahmed for re-election stated that the All Progressive Congress in Kwara has the final say over who bears the party's governorship flag and not him.

Saraki who is the leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, had endorsed the governor for second term at an APC stakeholders' meeting last Thursday night stated that the party will hold its primaries for various positions as scheduled and whoever has the highest vote automatically becomes the flag bearer.

"I have endorsed Governor Ahmed for second term as other individuals and Associations have done; this doesn't mean Governor Ahmed has an automatic ticket to contest for second term, it is important to note that the party has the final day over who bears its gubernatorial flag and not me. Primaries will be held and whoever wins becomes the flag bearer" he said.

However, Dr Bukola Saraki, have many analysts and observers of political events in the state by endorsing Ahmed for second term during the meeting.

Further speaking during the media chat, Dr. Bukola Saraki stated that his endorsement of Governor Ahmed for a second term was not accidental but a well deserved honor. "He worked for it, he merited it because he has performed creditably well in the areas of infrastructure, education, job creation, health sector, agriculture etc"
