Ahmed, Baraje, Others Express Shock over Kwara APC Secretary's Death

Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed has described as painful and shocking, the death of the State Secretary of the All Progressive Congress, Prince Yemi Afolayan.

Afolayan died in Ilorin on Friday after a brief illness.

Ahmed in his condolence message sent through his Chief Press Secretary, Alhaji Abdulwahab Oba, said "Prince Afolayan's passage was at a time his political experience and commitment to deepening of democratic culture in the State were highly needed".

Ahmed recalled that Prince Afolayan as Political Adviser to former governor Abubakar Bukola Saraki, a member of Kwara State House of Assembly, former State Secretary of People Democratic Party in Kwara State and Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, contributed immensely to good governance, peace and tranquillity in the State.

Similarly, Governor Ahmed, who said the death of Prince Afolayan had left a big vacuum in the political landscape of the state, described the death of Mrs Funmi Adebayo, the wife of a former governor of Kwara State, Chief Corlenius Adebayo as a great loss not only to the former first family but Kwara State at large.

According to him, Mrs. Adebayo's contributions to the state as wife of a governor and in other spheres of life were undoubtedly indelible marks in the sand of time.

The Governor prayed God to grant the families of the deceased the fortitude to cope with the loss and grant both Afolayan and Mrs Adebayo eternal rest.

Also, the Speaker, state house of assembly, Hon. Razak Atunwa has said that, the sudden death of Afolayan had been described as shocking and monumental loss to the people of the State in particular and Nigeria as a whole.

Atunwa in a condolence message issued in Ilorin Friday described Prince Afolayan as democrat and parliamentarian per excellence whose immeasurable contributions to the nation's hard won democracy would be greatly missed.

The Speaker who was visibly worried noted that the deceased had made significant contributions towards the political emancipation of the nation and described him as an amiable ,trust worthy, benevolent and grassroots mobiliser who devoted his life towards serving God Almighty and humanity.

He then prayed God Almighty to grant him eternal rest.

Also, a chieftain of APC, Alhaji Abubakar Baraje and a member representing Ilorin South/Ilorin East federal constituency at the national assembly, Hon. Ali Ahmad condoled the state government, Senator Bukola Saraki and the entire members of APC in the state over the death of Afolayan.

>In a separate condolence message issued in Ilorin on Friday, Alhaji Baraje described the late Scribe of APC as an astute and grassroots politician who contributed immensely to the growth of the Party.
