OPINION - Kwara : "Abuja Politicians" With Real Values! By Henry Semilore

Date: 2014-08-16

As we take a step closer to the 2015 general elections with the commencement of the distribution of Permanent Voters' Card (PVC) by INEC. It is important we stay alert to the antics of the emperor and his cohorts who in their bid to remain in power at all cost will do everything to dissuade us. They will, as experienced at two different places yesterday unleash their thugs on the electorate and intimidate us but me must remain resolute. Obtain our cards and prepare ourselves for the elections proper. By God's grace we shall overcome.

They will also try fervently to black label our true sons and daughters in the struggle for a greater Kwara and tag them all sorts of names as they have already been tagged the "Abuja Politicians".

Who are the "Abuja Politicians" ? They are true sons and daughters of Kwara that took the bull by the horn, traveled out of their comfort zone to make a name and living for themselves. They are doing wonderfully well in their various chosen professions and representing us well. They have never been found wanting in the discharge of their duties with no blemishes in their careers spanning over years.

They are the ones that had their early days in life spent with the people of Kwara in different settlements, went out to seek for knowledge like the Holy Books prescribed and back loaded with both knowledge of the home front and that of the outside world.

They have gone to see that our men deserve a better life than being taxi drivers, that giving out clippers and grinding machines are not real empowerment but token. That our women if given the opportunity can climb to the summit of their chosen careers and should be respected instead of being used as mere voters during elections. That you don't need to depend on political appointment before you can make headway in life.

They are the ones that have helped their communities with their widows mite out of their personally hard earned money.

The "Abuja Politicians" did not rely on public money to make ends meet. They are people on proven track records and integrity.

They are the "Abuja Politicians" with Real Values!!!
