The much talked- about "Friends of Rugby" organized 2012 Lagos Rugby Union League will kick-off with pomp and pageantry to-day at the main bowl of the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, with all preparations in top gear towards a most successful 2012 rugby season. In the same light, the match of-ficials to officiate during the games have been ap-pointed after undergoing a fitness test yesterday. IRB Educator for Nige-ria Mr. Ntiense Williams who conducted the tests said 9 out of the 11 can-didates successfully com-pleted and passed the test for officiating.

Meanwhile, "Friends of Rugby" has finalized plans for the commence-ment of the rugby league which will feature 5 rug-by clubsides from Lagos, and a surprise entrant from Kwara State called Ilorin Rugby Football Club.

The remaining 5 Clubs are Lagos Rugby Football Club, Young Li-ons Rugby Football Club, Gosar Rugby Football Club, Police Rugby Foot-ball Club, and the defend-ing champions Cowrie Rugby Football Club.

The matches will be played at the main bowl of the National Sta-dium, Surulere, Lagos from May through to No-vember every fortnight, with a final between the Northern Rugby League champions and the La-gos Rugby Union League champions.

Each club participat-ing in the rugby league will receive a set of brand new customized rugby jerseys, courtesy of the chairman of the "Friends of Rugby", Mr. Kelechi Mbagwu.
