'Kwara PDP ticket open to all' - Prof. Oba

Date: 2014-07-04

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State and Executive Chairman, Federal Character Commission (FCC), Professor Oba Abdulraheem yesterday said the governorship ticket of the party is open to all members interested in flying the party's flag.

Speaking through the Taliban Support Group (TSG), Abdulraheem dissociated himself from a certain publication by a group, Concerned PDP Stakeholders, where he was said to have maligned other PDP leaders in the state.

Director-General of the Group, Alhaji Abdulmumeen Khatibi, while addressing a press conference on behalf of Abdulraheem said the publication was the handiwork of "detractors", saying, "no right thinking member of PDP would go out to malign others when there are rules and processes."

He said all the PDP leaders in the state including Professor Abdulraheem, Senator Rukayyat Gbemisola, Dele Belgore, Hajia Muinat Shagaya, among others are united and working towards the same goal.

Khatibi said all the stakeholders and leaders of the party are equal and qualified to vie for any elective position in the forthcoming election.

"Anybody is free to contest for any position because Democracy is for all. Members of Taliban Support Group therefore dissociate ourselves from this publication. It is the handiwork of our enemies as you know they would go all out to create a wedge among us," the group stated.
