306 sports journalists to participate in media games

306 Journalists are to participate in the third edition of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Media Games, holding in September this year.

The Chairman, SWAN Media Games Committee, Alhaji Tunde Akanbi, disclosed this today, when he led the fifteen member committee to the Management of Radio Kwara, Ilorin.

Alhaji Akanbi, who said the event which started in 2009, would feature walk race, football, badminton, chess, scrabble, table tennis and dart.

The Chairman of the committee added that eleven chapels would participate in the competition, pointing out that about three million Naira would be used to host the event.

Alhaji Akanbi solicited the support of Radio Kwara, media organisations in the state and other stakeholders, to ensure successful hosting of the competition.

He commended the Kwara state government for creating a conducive environment for sporting activities to thrive in the state.

Responding, the General Manager of Radio Kwara, Alhaji Abdullateef Adedeji, affirmed the support of the corporation to the competition, pledging a donation of 100 thousand Naira.

Alhaji Adedeji added that Radio Kwara would participate in all the seven events and all the participants from the station would be taken care of.

The Committee also visited the Herald Newspaper where the General Manager of the Newspaper, Alhaji Abdurasaq Adebayo pledged the support of the organisation to the successful hosting of the competition.
