135 golfers storm Ilorin for tourney

135 golfers including 35 professionals will storm Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, for the seventh Yolas Invitational Pro and Amateur Open Golf tournament billed Friday and Saturday.

Addressing sportswriters at the Ilorin Golf Club, Chairman of Yolas Consultants, Engineer Lanre Sagaya said the golfers were drawn from across the country and praised the management of the club for maintaining the court.

Sagaya who is the Sponsor of the tournament pledged to continue with the sponsorship of the event to showcase the state and encourage investors. He said the winner in the professional category will smile home with N500,000 among other prizes.

The Captain of the Club, Alhaji Isiaka Labaika stated that members of the Club are prepared to host the tournament and thanked the sponsor for sustaining the tournament.

Mr. Jide Allen, a popular sports presenter at the state broadcasting corporation (Radio Kwara) has won the tournament thrice since it started in the year 2000.
