Saraki, in a statement, described late Haliru as a meek and committed legislator who devoted his time to the upliftment of Kwara State.

The statement reads:

"It is with shock and grief but with total submission to Almighty Allah that I received the news of the death of a member of the Kwara State House of Assembly representing Kaiama Wayibe Kemanji constituency, Alhaji Muhammed Idris Haliru who was until his death the Chairman of the House Committee on Public Petitions.

" Hon. Haliru was a very meek, smart and committed legislator who devoted quality of his time, energy and office to ensure the progress and upliftment of Kwara state. He was diligent and disciplined in his duties and above all, his love and cares for his constituents speaks volume of his humility.

" No doubt, Hon. Haliru will be greatly missed by Kwarans- being a progressive and an important part of the state's political family.

" I pray that Almighty Allah grant him Aljanat fridauz and comfort his immediate and extended family members. My condolences extends to HRH, the Emir of Kaiama, the people of Kaiama, Speaker and members of kwara state House of Assembly and most especially, His Excellency, Governor Abdul fatal Ahmed, Executive Governor of Kwara State."
