A 44-year-old-man, Alhaji Saka Audu of Edun community in Ilorin, Kwara State capital, has told  an Ilorin Area Court  he was no longer interested in Bashirat Audu, his wife of six years.

He, therefore, prayed the court to dissolve his marriage to her. 

 “I’m  fed up with the marriage and I prefer to be alone and live  in peace,” he said.

Audu told the court  their  marriage was contracted in 2008 and had produced three children.

“My lord, I want an end to this marriage because I have lost  passion  for  my wife. I  want to be alone and happy,”  he said.

The defendant, however, objected to her husband’s  prayer, saying she was still interested in the marriage.

“I love my husband and I will do everything to keep him for the sake of our  children. I don’t want them to suffer,” she said.

She urged the court not to grant  her husband’s prayer and asked for an adjournment to make a reconciliatory move.

The judge, Mr Yusuf Abdulkareem, adjourned the case  till  June 19.
