Obasanjo's New Ministers (Kwarans).
Cornelius Adebayo
Adebayo is a Second Republic governor of Kwara state and a chieftain of the Alliance for Democracy (AD), one of the the political parties which ran against President Obasanjo's PDP during the last general elections at all levels except the presidential elections.
Some political anaysts who spoke to THISDAY intoned that in an environment of 'winner takes it all' its a twist that a politician who worked against the interests of the PDP in Kwara state is being considered for a Ministerial appointment.
During the last gubernatorial elections, Adebayo had stated: "While the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) continue their war of attrition, the AD keeps winning more converts in Kwara". Adebayo had declared that the only way out of this menace of violence was a massive voting for the AD governorship candidate of Alhaji Lai Mohammed, in the April 19 polls.
Adebayo's inclusion in President Obasanjo's cabinet may well be a fulfillment of his promise to mix youth and experience in his new cabinet. His portfolio however remains in the realm of conjecture.
Funke Adedoyin
Funke Adedoyin is the daughter of Kwara State born industrialist and business mogul, Chief Samuel Adedoyin.
She is a member of the Kwara State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Before the then PDP gubernatorial candidate, Dr Bukola Saraki, settled on Mr. Joel Ogundeji as his choice for a running mate, her name featured prominently on the list of those being considered.
In the days preceding the election, her name and that of Ogundeji were the only one left on the list.
But Governor Saraki chose Ogundeji as his running mate for the April 19 gubernatorial elections.
