Kwara Express to get 50 additional buses
No fewer than 50 buses will be injected into the Kwara State Transport Corporation, the Kwara Express, by the state government.
This, according to the Managing Director, Harmony Holdings Limited, Mr. Tope Daramola, is aimed at improving the operations of the company.
Harmony Holdings is the coordinating and supervising entity of about 21 companies owned by Kwara State Government including the Kwara Express.
Daramola stated that the state government was committed to ensuring a transport company that would operate at global best practices and standards.
He added that efficient transport system would boast commerce and industry, agriculture, tourism and overall socio-economic, political and cultural well being of the residents.
He spoke in an interview with journalists on the sidelines of the first annual general meeting of Kwara Holdings.
According to him, the firm made a profit before tax of N275m aside from profit recorded by the Kwara Express and Ministry of Finance Incorporated.
It also declared a dividend of 75 Kobo per N1.00 ordinary share.
Daramola further said that the Kwara Express had been re-strategised for efficient operations and profitability.
He said, "We have gone far about the Kwara Express. We have done a complete turnaround of the company. We are planning to inject minimum 50 buses in the next batch. We are going to scale them and inject them depending on how their capacity can be sustained."
