Press Release: Our reaction to the rejection of Monitoring and Evaluation Bill - Kwara PDP
This has further demonstrated the equity, fairness and justice with which the party is known that has continued to reflect in their characters despite the current political turbulence even as we urge them to uphold the standard.
We are bold to inform Kwarans that with the defection of Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed to the All Progressive Congress (APC) the pursuance of policies that have no direct bearing on the vast majority of the people will be the hallmark of his administration in order to satisfy the demands of his allies.
Let it also be on record that the absence of the Speaker, Barrister Razak Atunwa, at the Thursday's plenary was deliberate so as not to be tagged as working against the State government's request, knowing fully well that the bill lacks merit and cannot scale through in the presence of viable member of the opposition party.
There is no iota of doubt in the fact that the proposal was aimed at achieving some self interest deals as demonstrated in the appointment of some aides in recent times and most especially to reduce the strength of the lawmakers who are meant to evaluate and monitor the projects embarked on by the executive arm.
Our question to them is that how many projects have they embarked on that deserves getting another separate monitoring group that would do something different from the wonderful jobs the assembly members are doing?
It is high time the good people of Kwara state stand up to their right by asserting themselves as a major stakeholders in the policy and decision making process as many unlawful and unwarranted proposals will soon be brought before assembly for approval.
While we urge Kwarans to continue in the demonstration of patriotism to our dear state, we also assure them that with their fervent support and steadfastness, the state will soon return to its previous status where the views and opinions of masses counts.
