Kwara APC chieftain wants police reform

Date: 2014-01-16

ormer Kwara state chairman of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), now a chieftain of All Progressives Congress (APC), Sulieman Buhari, has condemned the recent attitude of the police in view of the forthcoming general election.

Buhari, in a statement in Ilorin, said, "assessing the recent political development, this government appears poised to frustrate the resolve for a peaceful and stable political environment as we march towards 2015, in our efforts to avoid the repeat of past trends of insecurity and violence".

"The attitude of the Nigeria Police Force buttresses our calls for a comprehensive reform of the Force to make it non-partisan, effective, and law abiding, in conformity with our contemporary realities and global best practices.

"Those who want to forment instability should know that there is no alternative to a secured and stable Nigeria. This is the ideal we Nigerians have held onto over the past hundred years of our existence; and it is this we are ready to defend with every ounce of our energy", he said.
