Sen. Simeon Ajibola, (PDP-Kwara), on Monday urged members of the party in the state to remain steadfast in spite of the defection of Sen. Bukola Saraki to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Ajibola made the call while addressing party faithful at a congress held at Omu-Aran, Irepodun Local Government Area, Kwara.

Ajibola, who was represented by Chief Sunday Olosunde, said that the congress was organised to showcase the party's popularity, in spite of the defection of the party's leader to APC.

"Our people should remain intact because when we started this PDP, Bukola Saraki was not a member.

"We gave him membership card which he used to contest governorship election and won.

"We are the foundation members; we have been watching the unfolding situation and praying that one day God will deliver us.

"But as you can see from the large turn-out of our party members, we remain one indivisible entity, " Ajibola said.

Also addressing the congress, Chief Yahaya Akinmade, a former PDP State Legal Adviser, said that with the exit of some members, the party became very democratic.

"That is why everybody should support PDP Kwara" Akinmade said.

In their separate remarks, Mr Ben Duntoye and Chief Ademola Bamidele, former Commissioner, and Chairman, Kwara South Consultative Forum, respectively, urged members to continue to work for the success of the party at all levels. (NAN)
