Kwara U-13, U-17 teams for Kenya, Europe

The Kwara State U-13 team and the U-17 team that won the gold medal of the sixth edition of the National School Sports Festival will represent Nigeria at the African U-13 championship in Kenya next year as well as another competition in Europe.

Speaking during the closing ceremony of the festival in Ilorin, the Category Business Manager of Nestle, Doja Ekeruche said Nestle is committed to the total development of kids to make them future champions. "We want these young kids to imbibe all the principles that make future champions, morals, mental, physical and interlectual capacity. We will continue to support the NSSF to accomplish this task," Ekeruche said.

"As part of our committment, Nestle is sponsoring the winner of the U-13 team to Kenya next year to take part in the African U-13 championship. Last year the team that won the U-13 was in Ghana where they won the event.

"This year, Kwara will represent the country in Kenya and Nestle will give the team all the support to do well in the competition. We believe tnat they are great champions that will do the country proud."

On his part, NSSF president Mohamad said the U-17 team will represent the country in a competition in Europe next year.

"We are working out the logistics of taking the U-17 team champions to play in a competition next year. This is in line with our plans to expose young talent to the best opportunity so that they can become world beaters."
