Kwara beats Oyo to gold medal in U-13 girls' handball

Date: 2013-11-26

Kwara State beats their Oyo State counterpart 24-4 to claim gold medal in the girls' U-13 handball event at the ongoing Sterling Bank-sponsored NationalSchool Sports Festival holding in Ilorin.

Both teams had to play the final as the only team registered for the event.

Coordinator of handball in Kwara, Peter Jimoh said the victory was well deserved as the players showed understanding.

"I am not surprised at the outcome. Most of those players are from the same school team and there's this understanding amongst them. This you can see translated into the large margin recorded," he said.

He assured that the state would excel in handball, as it is one of its strength in school sports.

"Well apart from the fact that the Handball teams have been together for some time, we have a tradition in the sport. I expect more medals as the competition progresses," he said.
