Parliament can handle national dialogue - Ex-Kwara PDP chair

Date: 2013-11-23

Former chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)  in Kwara State Alhaji Ahmed Gunu has implored those with opinions on issues relating to the governance and running of the country to channel such through the nation’s parliament.

He said parliamentarians   are the true representatives of the people and should listen to them.

Gunu, who spoke with newsmen in Ilorin, said the lawmakers’ membership comprises people from all corners of the country and are therefore better positioned to handle any identified grey area.

Speaking on the recent statement credited to former Minister for Transport, Alhaji Bio Ibrahim where he said former Governor Bukola Saraki could not command loyalty like his late  father, Gunu urged the PDP supporters in the state to disregard the comment.

“Bio is from my village, we are from the same place. There are very few young men who have had opportunities like him. He got to the National Assembly with ease, became the third in command in Kwara for six years with ease. He was sleeping when he was called to come and be a minister. And all these came with lots of ease.

“We have a leader whom we are very pleased with. Bukola Saraki gave us many firsts in Baruten. We never had tarred road   though we had a governor from the North. We never saw electricity despite the fact that we came from old Borgu where we have Kainji Dam and we produce electricity for Nigeria,” he said.
