The national president of the Nigeria Union of Teachers, (NUT) Comrade Michael Olukoya has called on institutions to come up with relevant research materials that will serve as guidelines for more effective labour activities in the country

He made this recommendation during a workshop at the Michael Imoudu National Institute for Labour Studies in Ilorin, Kwara State.

Comarade Odukoya charged the institutions as well as other stakeholders to develop intellectual content on labour administration and to take pro active stand in the vanguard of labour laws to prevent breaches, abeyance and impunity.

The workshop tagged "Trade union practice in a changing world" was aimed at equipping members in areas of leadership management, industrial relations, negotiation skills and labour laws.

The NUT President, expressed Optimism that such a research mechanism will keep the labour ministry duly informed, and the Attorney General of the federation duly briefed about official breaches of labour laws by state governments and their agencies.

He also noted that NUT is the oldest union, which is playing a critical role in the development of trade union movement in Nigeria and at the same time providing intellectual component.
