Ahmed Seeks Establishment Of Security Trust Fund
Kwara State governor, Alhaji AbdulFatah Ahmed yesterday, advocated for the establishment of Security Trust Funds by the three tiers of government to ensure adequate funding of the nation's security needs.
Ahmed made the suggestion in Ilorin, the state capital, while declaring open the meeting of the Federal and States Security Administrators (FSSAM).
The governor who was represented by his deputy, Elder Peter Kisira, said the establishment of the Security Trust Funds would enable government at all levels to render sufficient assistance to security agencies in order to enhance and sustain their combat readiness.
The governor stressed the need for all stakeholders to make contributions into the funds for efficient and transparent management.
Ahmed said peace and security should be recognised as necessary ingredients for rapid socio-economic development of any country or state, urging government at all levels to fully get involved and adopt strategies that would nip in the bud any untoward security challenges.
He called on participants to bring their wealth of experience to bear on security issues and management and also proffer solutions to security issues that retard the growth and development of the country.
