Flood: Kwara creates 13 camps
The Kwara State government has created 13 camps to relocate people in flood prone areas.
Though, the state is yet to experience flood disaster this year, government says it does not want to be caught unawares like last year.
Chairman of the state Committee on Flood Relief and Rehabilitation Alhaji Mohammed Dabarako in a chat with Daily Trust said out of the 13 camps, five were created in Patigi and another five in Edu Local Government Areas which were the most affected last year.
Five local governments, including Baruten, Moro and Ilorin South were affected by last year's flood.
Dabarako said the state in collaboration with the Federal Government would build prototype housing units for the displaced victims. He advised people in flood plains to comply with the relocation order, while appealing to the Federal Government to extend the dredging of River Niger from Lokoja to Jebba as a permanent solution to flood.
