Kwara 2015: PDP holds Ward Congress, Saturday
Ahead of the exercise, National Pilot gathered that gubernatorial aspirants on the platform of the party have intensified their lobby to mobilise three delegates from each of the 193 wards to the event.
At the event, which will take place in wards across the 16 local governments in the state, three delegates each will be elected to vote for gubernatorial aspirants for the party’s governorship primaries coming up next month, November at the party secretariat in Ilorin.
The last ward congress of the party turned violent over alleged imposition of ward executives of the party.
In a telephone chat with National Pilot yesterday, the Party’s Assistant Publicity Secretary, Femi Yusuf, said all party members should be law abiding, understanding and exhibit the spirit of brotherhood.
“It should be understood that this is just the first step in the election of our gubernatorial candidate. All the delegates are urged to be orderly and use their discretion to choose whoever they want to represent them”, he added.
But speaking on the issue, a party source said all the gubernatorial aspirants have been “busy lately in all the wards in the various local governments of the state in their bid to mobilise delegates.”
Among the party’s gubernatorial aspirants are Professor AbdulRaheem Shuaib Oba, Sulaiman Ajadi, Simon Ajibola, John Dara and Gbemisola Saraki, the only female aspirant.
Others are Jani Ibrahim, Bio Ibrahim, Sunday Babalola, Ayinla Folorunsho, Dele Belgore, Kale Belgore and Abdullahi Kaiama.
