In an exclusive list obtained by our reporter at the party secretariat yesterday, offices to be contested for include the Senate, House of Representatives and that of the state House of Assembly.

Governor Ahmed, in line with the party’s endorsement as the sole candidate for the governorship election in the state has also obtained the form to vie for the Governorship position.

The list is however expected to increase as some aspirants are expected to purchase forms from today (Monday) as the party has not state whether the exercise has closed.

“Though, we have stopped the sales of forms, but it is only the national leadership that can decide whether to continue with the sale from this week or not,” the party’s Organising Secretary, Alhaji Dogo Manzuma told National Pilot.

According to the list, 8 senatorial intent forms have been bought; 35 have been sold for the Federal House of Representatives while 129 aspirants have so far bought forms for the state House of Assembly.

Among those that have expressed senatorial interest, include the current senator representing Kwara Central at the Senate, Senator Bukola Saraki, Senator Shaaba Lafiagi from Kwara North, Gbenga Makajuola, Anu Ibiwoye from Irepodun in Kwara South and Engr. Abdulrauf Shittu from Kwara South among others.

Those that have indicated interest to vie for the federal House of Representatives include Hon Ali Ahmad, Alhaji Abdulganiy Olododo, Moshood Mustapha, Zakari Muhammed, Deputy Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Hon Yisa Gana, Hon Nimota Ibrahim, Otunba Taiye Afolabi from Ifelodun, Hon Aremu Adifa, Hon Abraham Ashaolu and Yusuf Abdullahi Alikali among others.

Hon Ebun Owolabi is expected to pick her form Monday (today) to vie for the Federal House of Representatives.

Aside from members of the State House of Assembly that have indicated to vie for higher offices, majority of the members have indicated interest to return to the House while some have not signified interest to vie for any position.

Lawmakers in this category include, Chairman, House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, Hon. Suleiman Idris Sunoboro, his counterpart in Information, Hon Adamu Ibrahim Sabi and the House Majority Leader, Hon AbdulGaniyu AbdulKareem.

Some of the aspirants, in response to the question posed by our reporter said their decision whether to contest or not rest with the leader of the party, Senator Bukola Saraki.

Those who have indicated interest to return include Hon Segilola Abdulkadir, Hon Sikirat Anako, Hon Giwa Afolabi, Hon Felicia Ojeleye (Isin), Hassan Oyeleke, Tope Olayonu, Hon Yunis Tanke, among others.

From the executives, present commissioner for health, Kayode Isa Abdul, his Agriculture counterparts, Kayode Towoju, Chairman Scholarship Board, Hon Isiaka Magaji, have all picked up Federal House of Representatives’ intent forms, while Special Adviser to Governor Ahmed on Student (Secondary) Ayo Obisesan, among others.

Reacting to their decisions to pick the interest form, Hon Ali Ahmad confirmed to National Pilot last night that he had collected the form based on quality representation he had offered at the lower legislative chambers.

“We believe we have represented this constituency like never before and we are going back with the belief that we will serve our people better”, he added.

In his response, Zakari Muhammed noted that though his chances are bright, only Allah can determine his chances.

Yes I have picked the form to return to the senate and I know that my chances are bright and in the hands of Allah”, he added.

According to Gbenga Makanjuola, “Yes, it is true that that we have picked the expression of interest form for senate, I am trusting God and I know my people are with me believing that I will perform better in higher position”, he added.
