I'm not deployed to do PDP's bidding - Kwara CP
The new Commissioner of Police in Kwara state, Mr. Ambrose Aisabo has clarified that he was not posted to the state at the instance of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Aisabo during his maiden press briefing stated that his posting to the state was “routine”, promising to be fair to all.
It would be recalled that the state chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) had alleged recently that the new CP was posted to do the bidding of PDP, warning him against partisanship.
However, the CP who assumed duty last Wednesday said, “My posting to the state is routine. There is no ulterior motive about it.
“The deployment affected 24 Commissioners of Police so my own is not an exception. Also the insinuation that I was brought to Kwara State to help a political party is not true. I am a policeman. I am not a politician.
“I have never played politics before and I can never play politics. I want to assure you members of the press, that I am not going to create any political debacle in this state. I will be fair. I will allow God to guide my actions. I will be firm. I will not tolerate political rascality and political violence”.
The CP who warned that any act of violence would be seriously dealt with urged the politicians and political parties to play by the rules.
“Every game has its rules. I expect everyone to play the game according to the electoral Act 2010 (as amended) especially section 199 (1). INEC said campaign will be allowed as from 16th of November this year. So I expect responsible politicians to abide by that. We are not saying they should not hold meetings but time for campaign is not ripe”, he added.
