Confusion in Kwara over Gov Ahmed's second term bid
There had been wild speculations that former governor of the state, Dr. Bukola Saraki, acclaimed Governor Ahmed’s godfather, may have concluded plans to ditch the governor come 2015.
It is also being rumoured that the issue has created a wide gulf between the two political gladiators.
A reliable source informed Saturday Mirror that of late Senator Saraki had strangely been out of public functions of late, wherever the governor features and where he ought to be, he would simply send someone else to stand in for him.
Also, the agitation for Governor Ahmed to continue in office, according to checks, have been coming from the Kwara South Senatorial District, where the governor hails from.
The agitators, it was gathered, are hinging their arguments on a claim that Governor Ahmed had only spent four years in office while Kwara Central, the home of Saraki, had enjoyed a twelve years slot.
The argument also further stated that while late governor Mohammed Lawal spent four years, Dr. Bukola Saraki spent eight to make the total twelve years.
Last Thursday, a group known as the Kwara South Youth Consultative Forum (KSYCF), at a press conference, strengthened the beliefs in some quarters that all was not well again between the governor and his former boss, when it called on Dr. Saraki that he should let Governor Ahmed ‘do it again’.
KSYCF, led by Kazeem Adekanye had said; “We plead with Senator Abubakar Bukola Saraki (CON), the APC and all stakeholders to make our vision of continued shared prosperity a reality by fielding Maigida (Ahmed) in the 2015 election as governor.”
