Kwara Assembly pledges to enact laws capable of accelerating development
The Kwara House of Assembly has said it will embark on enactment of viable laws that will accelerate development, good governance and a stable democracy.
The Deputy Speaker, Professor Gana Issa who made the assertion while addressing newsmen in IIorinsaid the House has lived up to its mandate through the passage of meaningful laws that would impact positively on the wellbeing of the people.
The Deputy Speaker while commenting on the rejection of Monitoring and Evaluation System Bill by the House explained that this became imperative as it was not in consonance with some sections of the country’s constitution.
Speaking on agricultural development, the Gana who is a professor of Agricultural Engineering and a former State Commissioner for Agriculture pointed out that there was need for government to pay attention to such a veritable in other to ensure development in the country.
The deputy speaker condemned over dependent on oil revenue, explaining that it will not only hinder the pace of the country’s development, but also increased corrupt practices from its administrators.
He described the subsidy removal on agriculture by the federal government as inappropriate, even as importation of agricultural materials that can be adequately produced in the country remain embarrassing.
