Date: 2013-07-18

Tragedy occurred at early hour of Thursday on Oyun bridge along Kwara State Polytechnic in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, where a truck laden with cement was said to have claimed three lives.

According to an eyewitness, Ibrahim Tajudeen, the motorcycle overtook a car and hard a head on collision with oncoming truck which led to the death of the three people. He said that some aggrieved residents of the area who were angered by the incident subsequently set the truck ablaze.

Royal Times correspondent, who was at the scene, reports that men of the fire service, civil defense, the Nigeria Police among other moved to the site to calm the situation.

Following the complain of students of the Kwara State Polytechnic as they were unable to go for their examination due to the demonstration of residents of the area, the authority of the institution has thereby postponed today's examination till 5th of August, 2013.

Speaking on the development the Public Relation Officer of the institution, Mr Abdulkardri Yunus, said other papers remain as they appear on the central time-table, noting that students of Institute of Technology (IOT) are not affected.
