Wolves prepare killer squad for Spotlight
Warri Wolves head coach, Solomon Ogbeide has vowed to feature his first 11 against Nigeria National League (NNL) side, Spotlight in the round of 32 in the Federation Cup on Wednesday at the Kwara State Stadium in Ilorin.
The Glo Premier League side overcame Dynamite FC in the round of 64 while the Katsina-based side edged Bago Mission FC to pave the way for the epic contest.
Ogbeide said his charges will move into close camping on Friday with 24 players for the trip to Ilorin on Monday.
“This match is very important to us and we can’t afford to underrate any team especially Spotlight.
”We’re very familiar with the side because Warri Wolves edged them out via penalty shootout last season after they equalised in the last minute of the game.
”They’re in the Pro-league and are doing well. Our aim is to play in the final and all hands must be on deck for this match.
”The team will move into close camping on Friday and from there to Ilorin on Monday. I am going to feature my best 11 because the teams in the lower league are fond of springing surprises,” said the former Akwa United.
Ogbeide has however expressed gratitude to coach Stephen Keshi for inviting three of his wards to the Super Eagles with forward, Joseph Osadiaye joining the duo of Azubuike Egwuekwe and Oghenekaro Etebo.
The Seasiders gaffer said the gesture will further expose the players and improve their work rate.
“I’m happy for their invitation and will want to thank the coach for doing the right thing. I’m very sure that they’ll be more exposed and their work rate will greatly improve.
”No doubt, if we qualified for a continental assignment their exposures will go a long way to help the club achieve something substantial,” he said.
