Atunwa seeks collaboration among state legislatures
The Speaker gave this view in Ejigbo, Osun State at the weekend while participating in the Osun State walk-to-live exercise in Ejigbo.
Barrister Atunwa who described parliamentary democracy as the best forum of participatory government, explained that rapport between the first tier of government would encourage peer review mechanism, thereby improving quality of legislation and representation.
He praised the Osun State House of Assembly for organizing the walk-to-live exercise which he said would enhance healthy living among the citizenry.
In her remark, the Speaker of Oyo State House of Assembly, Hajia Monsurat Sunmonu, expressed delight that the relationship between legislators cut across party, ideological and regional boundaries.
Earlier, the Speaker of Osun State House of Assembly, Alhaji Najeem Salam had said the exercise was initiated to enhance healthy living among the citizenry.
He praised the speakers of both Kwara and Oyo State Houses of Assembly for identifying with the people of Osun State.
Other dignitaries that participated in the exercise were the Governor, Abdulrauf Aregbesola, members of the State Executive Council, lawmakers from Kwara, Oyo and Osun States, council chairmen, youth and market women as well as the monarch of Ejigbo, Oba Oyebode Oyesisin.
