'Club Owners not Opposed to League Reforms'

Date: 2013-05-13

The Nigeria Premier League club owners have that said the association was never at any time against positive reforms aimed at transforming the league for better.

The body, through an appeal updated on a social media network platform, called on all relevant stakeholders in the football circle to support the Nduka Irabor led LMC in their quest to take the league to the next level.

The new development came after a meeting which was held in Abuja on Friday May 10, where a more courteous meeting between the NFF and representatives of LMC and club owners, acting secretary of club owners Alloy Chukwuemeka was held.

After the meeting, a spokesperson for all parties told journalists that the much celebrated rift between the LMC and clubs was as a result of a mere communication gap and not a disagreement over reform processes as wrongly perceived in some sections of the public.

Chukwuemeka who doubles as the General Manager of ABS FC Ilorin added that it was the same club owners who led the revolution that sacked the immediate past board of the league which brought in the LMC and as such could not turn around to be against positive reforms in the system.

He called on the LMC to evolve more proactive innovations aimed at making the NPFL compete favorably amongst other organized leagues of the world just as he advised further that club owners should be carried along in all process of the reforms as the biggest stakeholders in the league.

Chukwuemeka also commended the leadership of the NFF and the entire stakeholders for their understanding and role in bringing positive and peaceful resolutions of the issues as it concerns the NPFL.

He also assured that this synergy of our collective efforts would be sustained  to better our football development.
