Sound Basic Education, Pivotal to National Advancement - Saka Onimago

The Kwara State Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Alhaji Saka Onimago, has said that sound and qualitative primary and secondary education are imperative for national advancement.

Speaking at a workshop on ‘Helping adolescents build a strong positive emotional stability and assertiveness,’ in Ilorin on Thursday, Onimago identified quality basic education as the pillar of  tertiary education.

The commissioner, who was represented by Deputy Director for Human Capital Development in the ministry, Mr. A.O. Abolarin, said the state government would continue to improve on infrastructure, staff development and logistics that would further boast education in the state.

Programme Manager, Royal Heritage Health Foundation, Mrs. Bola Nelson, urged parents to mould their children into good personalities.

She stated that children must not be timid or have inferiority complex, adding that parents must build confidence in their children.

She also enjoined pupils not to engage in anti-social behaviours.
