Kwara Board Warns Teachers Against Truancy

Date: 2013-04-27

As public schools resume on Monday, the Kwara State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) on Friday warned teachers against truancy.

The Chairman of the board, Alhaji Lanre Daibu, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ilorin that his body  would strictly monitor the teachers to reposition the education sector in the state.

“In line with the education policy of the state government, SUBEB will intensify efforts at repositioning the  education sector  in Kwara.

“The board will not tolerate truancy from teaching and non teaching staff  to achieve the desired objectives,” he said.

Daibu also said the board would provide quality basic education to pupils in the state irrespective of ethno-political differences.

“The state government will ensure that education is given to its citizenry in view of its commitment to human capital development,’’ he added.

He said priority would be given to the training and retraining of teachers to broaden their horizon.

Daibu, however, urged parents and stakeholders to partner with the government to boost education in the state.
