Chieftaincy Tussle - 'Normalcy Has Returned to Kwara Community'
The people of Ganmo community in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State have commended Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed for what they described as his timely intervention in the community's chieftaincy tussle which led to loss of lives and property.
A community leader in Ganmo, Alhaji Abdulkareem Olola Kasum, in a statement in Ilorin yesterday, confirmed that normalcy has returned to the community.
The community was recently engulfed in a crisis over a chieftaincy tussle, in which two people died and several others, including policemen, were injured.
"Since the state government's intervention and pronouncement on the grading exercise, normalcy has returned to the market town of Ganmo and everybody is going about his or her duty without threat or molestation. The peace-loving citizens of Ganmo have already accepted the order of the government and are ready to live in peace as brothers and sisters.
What we abhor is leadership imposition. We are all waiting peacefully for the outcome of the chieftaincy dispute which is now in the Supreme Court", he said.
He appealed to the Ifelodun Local Government as well as the Ifelodun/Irepodun traditional council not to take side in the chieftaincy dispute in the interest of continuous peace and stability.
