Akor Proud of Rangers' Win over Kwara Utd.

Date: 2013-04-04

Enugu Rangers goalkeeper, Itodo Akor, believes his performance in Sunday’s Matchday 5 victory in the NPFL over Kwara United will prepare him for the challenges ahead at the famous Enugu side.

Akor, who has played second-choice to Godwin Anyalogu since the opening day of the present season, got his first chance in goal as Rangers earned a 3-1 victory over rivals, Kwara United.

Rangers signed the trio of Akor, Super Eagles goalkeeper, Chigozie Agbim and Flying Eagles goalkeeper, Emmanuel Daniel, during the transfer break.

However, Agbim and Daniel are yet to make appearances in the league with the former still yet to be cleared from Warri Wolves.

“I’m proud to be with Rangers. The club has a rich history and it’s rewarding to be part of the present set-up.

“Rangers will offer me more challenges to become a better goalkeeper. I had no contest at El-Kanemi, but it’s a different situation here. There is no place in the world I'd rather be than Rangers.

“I have to work hard to justify my place in goal. When you play for a club like Rangers, every game is important,” Akor said to supersport.com.

Reacting to Kwara United’s equaliser after Adamu Mohammed’s opener, Akor said: “The goal came as a shock, but I was confident of victory. Besides, the technical crew gave me the task based on the fact that I will do a good job.”

The former El-Kanemi goaltender started his career at Kano side, Buffalo, before heading for Voice of Nigeria.
