Kano Pillars Stun ABS in Ilorin
Kano Pillars yesterday defeated ABS 3-2 in Ilorin to return to record their second away victory and also return to the summit of the ongoing Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL.
Two second half goals half from ABS combative midfielder, Lordson Ter'Ade Ichull could not stop Pillars from running away with the maximum points as Bello Musa scored the champions third goal in the 86th minute to make it 3-2.
Pillars Nafiu Ibrahim shad cored in 45 seconds to record one of the fastest goals in the current season before Gambo Mohammed made it two for the visitors in the 5th minute.
Speaking to Daily Trust on phone, Pillars Media Officer, Malam Idris Malikawa said his team's performance yesterday proved that they are worthy champions of the Nigeria Premier League.
He said with the caliber of players in the team, Pillars can beat any team in the league home and away at any given time.
"The victory over ABS away did not come to us as a surprise. We did not go to Ilorin for anything less than the three points. We were going for the maximum points and we realized our aim.
"Although ABS fought back in the second half, they could not stop us because the early goals destabilize them. By this victory we have proved once again that we are the true champions".
Scorer of ABS' two goals, Ichull told Daily Trust that even though his side lost the match, he was happy with his performance.
"Although we lost, we gave a good account of ourselves. Pillars cannot say they found us easy to beat. Had it been they did not get the early lead, we would have beaten them.
"I want to thank God for the two goals. I did my best and I am happy because I know what it means to score against a formidable club like Kano Pillars", he said.
