Mandate Market Stakeholders Commend Gov AbdulRazaq Over Interlocking, Infrastructure Projects
Stakeholders and traders at the Mandate Market in Ilorin have commended the Kwara State Government under Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for ongoing efforts to upgrade infrastructure and create a more conducive environment for commercial activities.
The market stakeholders, comprising leadership figures and representatives across various trade units, stated that the market has experienced notable structural improvements under the present administration, particularly in accessibility, physical infrastructure, and overall sanitation.
The market leaders highlighted the ongoing interlocking pavement project around the pepper and onion sections as a major intervention, expressing optimism that its completion will ease vehicular and pedestrian movement, enhance customer access, and foster a cleaner trading environment.
According to the group, traders in the pepper, onion, meat, and livestock sections, alongside other commercial units, have recorded improved operational efficiency resulting from state government interventions.
They emphasized that a well-structured commercial environment remains essential to business growth, noting that improved access roads and paved surfaces will make the market more attractive to buyers.
Furthermore, the stakeholders acknowledged the broader infrastructure initiatives executed by the AbdulRazaq-led administration across Kwara State, stressing that effective governance should be judged by its direct economic impact on citizens.
Those who expressed appreciation included the Iyaloja of Mandate Market, Alhaja Fumilayo Babakobi; the Babaloja, Alhaji Muritala Tabaru; Chairman of the Pepper and Onion Section, Alhaji Namori; the section's Secretary, Alhaji Tajudeen; and Vice Chairman of the Mandate Abattoir, Mr Toyin Abdulwahab Bolakale.
The market executive council maintained that the ongoing upgrades transcend political considerations, framing them as vital investments to preserve livelihoods and expand local commerce within the state capital.
