Police Arrest Three Suspected Kidnappers, Uncover Network Linked to Kwara Abductions
The Kwara State Police Command has apprehended three suspected members of a kidnapping syndicate reportedly connected to several abductions across the state, following a combined intelligence-driven raid executed by police officers and forest guards.
The operational success commenced with the apprehension of Aliyu Isiaka at Okolowo, Ilorin, on 24 October 2026, by a team of forest guards headed by Jebrin Adam.
The suspect, an indigene of Ga'a-Kpapa Village within the Moro Local Government Area, was intercepted clad in a hijab and transporting a polythene bag stocked with various native charms.
According to an official release issued on Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, Isiaka admitted during police questioning to belonging to a nine-member abduction network headed by an at-large gang leader identified as Juli.
He revealed that he enlisted with the criminal group in August 2026 and actively engaged in three separate kidnapping assignments across Oloru, Alapa, and Malete, which yielded significant ransom sums.
Subsequent investigative follow-ups prompted a joint tactical raid on the suspects' forest hideout on 25 October, leading to the capture of two additional gang members identified as Seriki and Jebrin.
The trio is undergoing detailed police questioning and will face prosecution upon the completion of inquiries. The Commissioner of Police, Ojo Adekimi, characterized the arrests as a crucial stride toward neutralizing abduction syndicates and bolstering public safety across susceptible locations in Kwara.
He reassured citizens that the command remains committed to maintaining intelligence-based operations and deepening collaboration with complementary security formations in accordance with the mandates of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu.
