Shortly before Tuesday's plenary session, the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Engr. Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, received the winners of the 11th edition of the National Quiz Competition on the Legislature and Democracy for secondary school students, held at the Assembly Complex.

Organised by the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS), the state-level contest saw Government Day Secondary School (GDSS), Adewole, emerge as the overall winner after a keenly contested series against top public and private schools across the state.

God's Heritage Academy, Shao, finished as the first runner-up, while Adventist Secondary School, Shao, secured the second runner-up position. Omu-Aran High School and Hill City Schools finished as third and fourth runners-up, respectively.

Commending the students for their outstanding performance, Speaker Danladi-Salihu announced cash awards of N250,000 to the overall winner, N200,000 to the first runner-up, N150,000 to the second runner-up, and N100,000 to the other finalist schools to encourage academic excellence and civic engagement.

The Speaker highlighted the significance of a public school securing the top spot, noting that the triumph of GDSS Adewole reflects the positive impact of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq's extensive investments in Kwara State's public education sector, which continue to rebuild public trust and raise academic standards.
