Ilorin Emir Congratulates Prof. Alabi on Appointment as Armed Forces Medical University VC
The Emir of Ilorin and Chairman of the Kwara State Traditional Rulers Council, Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, CFR, has congratulated Professor Biodun Sulyman Alabi on his appointment as the Vice-Chancellor of the Armed Forces Medical University, describing the elevation as a fitting reward for decades of distinguished service in medical education and administration.
In a statement issued on Thursday by his spokesman, Dr. Abdulazeez Arowona, the Emir said Professor Alabi's appointment reflects his exceptional record of hard work, academic excellence, and commitment to national service.
The monarch noted that the renowned medical scholar has consistently distinguished himself through exemplary leadership in various academic and administrative roles, particularly as Provost of the College of Health Sciences, University of Ilorin.
According to the Emir, Professor Alabi's tenure as Provost was marked by visionary leadership that strengthened teaching, research, and clinical training, while advancing the institution's contribution to medical education in Nigeria.
He also highlighted Alabi's service as Chairman of the Association of Provosts of Colleges of Medicine in Nigeria (APCOM) and as Chairman of the Ministerial Monitoring Committee on the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) High Impact Intervention Project for the Rehabilitation of Medical Schools in Nigeria, among other national assignments.
The Emir said these accomplishments have adequately prepared the new Vice-Chancellor for the enormous responsibility of leading the Armed Forces Medical University.
Describing the appointment as a source of pride for the Ilorin Emirate, Kwara State, and Nigeria, Sulu-Gambari expressed confidence that Professor Alabi would deploy his wealth of experience to strengthen the university's mandate of training highly skilled medical professionals for the Nigerian Armed Forces and the nation at large.
The monarch prayed to Almighty Allah to grant the new Vice-Chancellor wisdom, strength, and divine guidance as he assumes office, expressing optimism that his leadership would take the institution to greater heights in medical education, research, and healthcare development.
