MULAN Kwara Inaugurates New Executives, Ibn Mahmud Pledges to Prioritise Members' Welfare

Date: 2026-08-09

The newly elected executive members of the Muslim Lawyers Association of Nigeria (MULAN), Kwara State chapter, have assumed office with a pledge to promote unity, members' welfare and professional development within the association.

The new executive council was inaugurated on Friday at the NBA House in Ilorin during the 2026 MULAN Handing-Over Ceremony and Dinner, marking the commencement of a two-year tenure.

Haruna Geo Ibn Mahmud emerged as chairman, with Taofeeq Olateju and Idiat Bukola Ameen serving as first and second vice chairmen respectively.

Other members of the executive council are Ibrahim Abubakar Ahmad (Agbaje), Secretary; Yusuf M. Shehu, Assistant Secretary I; Odofin Ruqayyah, Assistant Secretary II; Saka Folorunsho AbdulKadir, Public Relations Officer I; and Abdullateef Titilayo Fatimoh, Public Relations Officer II.

Taiwo Azeez Hammed was sworn in as Financial Secretary, alongside Faridah Sholagberu as Assistant Financial Secretary and Azzezat Arikewuyo Ajumobi as Treasurer.

Others include Shukurah Adejoke Raji, Welfare Secretary; Sulyman Toyin Yahaya, Assistant Welfare Secretary; and Jamiu Nurriyah, Auditor.

Three members - Sarafa Akande Omotosho, Yakub Yinka Ajibade and Ibrahim Tosho Balogun - were also appointed as ex-officio members.

Speaking after his inauguration, Ibn Mahmud described his emergence as chairman as a privilege and pledged to build on the achievements of previous administrations.

He identified members' welfare as a major priority of his administration, assuring members that their interests would remain at the centre of his leadership.

The new executive succeeds the administration led by Dr Taofeeq Abolaji Abdulraheem, which recorded several achievements, including securing a plot of land for the construction of the association's secretariat.

The outgoing administration also organised lectures and Quranic competitions and hosted the 2025 MULAN conference.

The ceremony featured an award presentation to Alhaji Kamaldeen Adeyemi Ajibade, SAN, in recognition of his contributions to MULAN and the legal profession.

In his acceptance speech, Ajibade thanked the association for the recognition and pledged N5 million towards the construction of the Kwara MULAN secretariat.

Other personalities honoured at the event included the Kwara State Attorney-General, Ibrahim Sulyman; Grand Kadi of the Kwara State Sharia Court of Appeal, Justice Abdullateef Kamaldeen; and J.A. Mumini, SAN.

The ceremony brought together members of MULAN, legal practitioners and other dignitaries to celebrate the transition to a new administration and recognise individuals who have contributed to the growth of the association and the legal profession.
