The Kwara State Government has welcomed two members of Team Nigeria who won gold and silver medals at the Spelling Bee World Cup held in Shanghai, China.

The students, Maryam Yusuf and Abdurrahman Yusuf of Ar-Raheem School, were received by a government delegation at the Ilorin International Airport in recognition of their outstanding performance at the global competition.

Maryam Yusuf won the gold medal, while Abdurrahman Yusuf claimed the silver medal as part of Team Nigeria, which also featured Oluwadamilola Adeolu of St. Lawrence Schools, Ado-Ekiti, and Chinedu Okediachi of Madonna International College, Asaba.

The Kwara State Government congratulated the medalists for their remarkable achievement, describing their success as a reflection of hard work, discipline and academic excellence.

The government said the students' outstanding performance demonstrates the immense potential of Nigerian children when provided with the right support and opportunities to excel.

It added that the achievement has brought pride and honour to Kwara State and Nigeria, while inspiring other young learners to strive for excellence in academics and other fields of endeavour.
