Date: 2026-07-24

The Federal Fire Service has appointed Assistant Controller of Fire (ACF) Ibrahim Sarafadeen as the new State Controller of its Kwara State Command.

The appointment was announced in a statement issued on Thursday in Ilorin by the Public Relations Officer of the Federal Fire Service, Kwara State Command, Jimoh Ibrahim.

According to the statement, Sarafadeen officially assumed office following the handover of leadership by the outgoing State Controller, Bakare Mary, during a ceremony attended by management officials, senior officers and other personnel of the command.

In her farewell remarks, Bakare expressed gratitude to God and the management of the Federal Fire Service for the opportunity to serve as the State Controller of the Kwara State Command.

She also appreciated the officers and personnel of the command for their support and dedication throughout her tenure, urging them to extend the same level of cooperation to her successor while maintaining discipline and professionalism.

"I thank Almighty God and the management of the Federal Fire Service for the opportunity to serve as the State Controller of the Kwara State Command.

"I also appreciate the Management Team, senior officers, officers and men of the command for their unwavering support and dedication throughout my tenure.

"I urge all personnel to extend the same cooperation to the new State Controller while upholding discipline and professionalism. I congratulate ACF Ibrahim Adisa Sarafadeen and wish him a successful tenure," she said.

Responding, Sarafadeen commended his predecessor for her exemplary leadership and contributions to the command, pledging to build on the achievements recorded during her tenure.

He also assured officers and personnel of his commitment to working closely with them to enhance the command's operations and improve fire safety across the state.

"I appreciate my predecessor for her exemplary leadership and invaluable contributions to the command. I also commend the Management Team, senior officers, officers and men for their dedication and commitment to duty.

"I seek your continued support and cooperation as we work together to build on the achievements of the command. I remain committed to protecting lives and property across Kwara State," he said.

The statement noted that Sarafadeen, an indigene of Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara State, joined the Federal Fire Service on July 24, 2012.

He holds a Bachelor's degree in Sociology from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and has served in several strategic positions within the service before his appointment as the State Controller of the Kwara State Command.

The handover ceremony also featured the presentation of a citation to the outgoing State Controller, the symbolic handing over of the Service Flag and the signing of official handover documents to mark the successful transfer of leadership.
