Kwara State Government to Launch Project 774 Digital Capacity Training for LGAs
The Kwara State Government is set to commence structured digital capacity training across its Local Government Areas (LGAs) under the Federal Government's Project 774 initiative, aimed at promoting grassroots digital inclusion.
The planning meeting, held on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at the Ilorin Innovation Hub, was led by Hon. Ishola Kayode, Special Assistant to the Governor on Digital Innovation. Key stakeholders gathered to coordinate the rollout of infrastructure to enhance digital literacy, digitization, and administrative efficiency at the local government level.
Representatives from Ifelodun, Ilorin West, Ilorin East, Ilorin South, and Offa LGAs resolved that the first phase of the programme will focus on training LGA personnel. This foundational step is designed to ensure staff are prepared to facilitate subsequent community-based training for residents.
Hon. Kayode noted that Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has already provided the necessary resources to activate the digital facilities, originally initiated in 2024 by the Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani. He urged strict safeguarding and proper use of the equipment, stressing that these assets must not be moved unnecessarily.
Supporting the initiative, Mrs. Adeiran Motunrayo, Director of Personnel, Finance and Supply at the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Technology (MBIT), advised LGA leadership to select "serious-minded and committed individuals" to ensure the programme's long-term success.
The meeting was attended by officials including representatives of the Commissioner for MBIT, LGA Chairmen of Ilorin West, Ilorin East, Ilorin South, Ifelodun, and Offa, as well as other stakeholders from the Office of the Special Assistant on Digital Innovation.
The training is expected to accelerate the adoption of official digital channels, promote paperless communication, and strengthen the capacity of LGAs to deliver efficient services to residents.
