Kwara Corrections Command Decorates 391 Officers In Record-Breaking Promotion
The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), Kwara State Command, decorated 391 newly promoted officers on Tuesday. The landmark event, held at the Command Headquarters in the Flower Garden Area of Ilorin, also featured the commissioning of the command's first official photo stand.
According to a statement by the Command's Public Relations Officer, CSC Philip Olumide Adegbulugbe, the decoration follows a recently approved promotion exercise spanning both senior and junior cadres. This represents the largest single promotion exercise in the history of the Kwara Command.
The newly elevated personnel include one Deputy Controller of Corrections, five Assistant Controllers, 14 Chief Superintendents, 25 Superintendents, and 91 Deputy Superintendents. Other ranks promoted include 74 Assistant Superintendents I, 54 Assistant Superintendents II, 13 Inspectors, 30 Chief Correctional Assistants, 44 Senior Correctional Assistants, and 40 Correctional Assistants I.
The ceremony was presided over by the State Controller of Corrections, Tolorunshagba Femi Emmanuel. The event was attended by heads of various government parastatals, representatives from sister security agencies, retired officers, and the families of the celebrants.
In his keynote address, Controller Emmanuel congratulated the officers on their achievement. He urged them to justify their new ranks through increased discipline, professionalism, and a steadfast commitment to the core mandate of the Nigerian Correctional Service.
He expressed appreciation to the minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, and the controller-general of Corrections, Sylvester Ndidi Nwakuche, for their leadership and sustained commitment to staff welfare and institutional development.
