Governor AbdulRazaq Presents N180 Million Cheques to Families of Fallen Vigilantes

Date: 2025-10-13

Kwara Governor compensates forest guards and vigilantes killed in anti-kidnapping confrontations across four LGAs

Over the weekend, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq presented cheques worth N80 million to the families of the forest guards and local vigilantes who recently lost their lives during confrontations with kidnappers. These tragic incidents occurred in Babanla, Oke Ode, and Eleyin, across the Ifelodun and Isin Local Government Areas of the state.

In addition to this, the Governor has authorised a separate N100 million support fund for the families of courageous individuals from Edu and Patigi Local Government Areas. These individuals were killed in a kidnapping ambush last July while attempting to address the surge in abductions in their area.

Speaking in Ilorin during the cheque presentation, the Governor commended the courage and dedication of all the fallen heroes and offered prayers for their souls.

"We extend our prayers to the families of the deceased. This was a tragic incident, and they lost their lives while serving their community. The government stands in solidarity with their families," the Governor stated.

He further affirmed the government's commitment to security: "We are committed to providing ongoing support for them and ensuring the safety of our state and nation. The military has intensified their efforts in the region, and we anticipate working closely with the Nigerian Army and other security agencies to eliminate these criminal elements from our state."
