NSCDC Inaugurates New Outpost in Ilorin GRA to Boost Grassroots Security
In a bid to strengthen grassroots security, the Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has inaugurated a new outpost in the Government Reserved Area (GRA), Ilorin, to enhance community safety and ensure a faster response to emerging threats.
Speaking at the ceremony, State Commandant Umar J.G. Mohammed described the facility as a strategic step towards deepening the Corps' security footprint within the Ilorin metropolis.
He stated that the inauguration aligns with the NSCDC's constitutional mandate to safeguard critical infrastructure and protect lives and property across the state.
Umar assured that the outpost would be fully operational, staffed with trained personnel tasked with emergency response, routine patrols, and fostering collaboration with residents to prevent crime and maintain peace.
The new unit is expected to serve as a hub for community-based security engagement in one of the city's key residential and administrative zones.
He therefore called on residents to partner with the Corps by sharing timely information and offering necessary support.
Abidoye, the Chairman of the Community, commended the NSCDC for bringing security closer to the people, describing the outpost as a welcome development that would help deter criminal activities and provide residents with a greater sense of safety.
The new outpost is expected to serve as a base for officers to respond swiftly to distress calls, prevent crime before it occurs, and build stronger collaboration with residents to ensure a safer community.
